Who is trying to prevent people from voting?

today on news.yahoo.com:
“Students in Virginia, Colorado and South Carolina were wrongfully told by voting officials that they could lose their scholarships and their parents would no longer be able to claim them on their income taxes if they registered to vote in their college towns.
The Michigan Department of Civil Rights launched an advertising campaign this week to combat misleading rumors – some started by local officials in mailings to voters – that people would be denied the right to vote if they lost their home to foreclosure, have a criminal record or do not have photo identification. ”

Who is trying to prevent people from voting? College students tend to be more liberal so, in this case, it would be a logical deduction that the right wing Republicans like those who support a poll tax are the most likely suspects.

I think it is sad when some people try to subvert the democratic process. Can’t we just all get along?

In Georgia, will foreclosure affect my spouse if property was purchased prior to marriage?

I bought a home before I was married, and now it may be getting to the point of foreclosure. Will this affect my spouse in any way? We live in Georgia and we live in her home now. What are the effects of foreclosure and will they affect my spouse as well?

basically, if she’s not on title nor on the loan, she’s okay.

Wasn’t the bailout suppose to help homeowners refinance if they were facing foreclosure? How? Was there any agency or website to go to in order to start the process?
