Another company in property management took over my lease, may charge a late fee?

A few months ago a received a letter Superior Court of California indicates that the house you are renting is in foreclosure because the property management company they were paying the rent to bankruptcy presented. We had another property management company come in and take charge of rent collection to the bank as ordered by the court. We did not sign any landlord / tenant agreement with them. They have already tried to charge a late fee (even though the rent was not), but can legally charge us even without type of written agreement? What happens to our deposits?

They do not need a new agreement which you signed with the original enterprise remains. Not nothing happens to your deposit, not its end anyway. CA have to refund your deposit minus any damages or invoices within 21 days moving out. Your lease is however, you have no right to break it. The new company will be the return of your deposit, if you are entitled to it.
