The day of the sheriff sale you will need to be gone.

Have a lawyer? He should know how to stall it a bit. I know people in other states that have stalled it for a year or longer.

There are brokers who will buy your house for cash, quick settlement. However, they may not give you quite the price you ask. On the other hand, foreclosure will get you nothing–the banks don’t care whether you recover any equity–the banks only want their money back..Try Stratilis.com, just over the border in CT. Good luck.

I am in CT but regardless of how long it takes in MA there are legal and ethical strategies to eliminate or minimize the damage to your finances (deficiency judgment) and credit even if you owe more than it is worth. If you don’t protect yourself you may have a big judgment and IRS tax penalty against you. Contact me if you wish to discuss and/or help. ethicalhomesolutions.com
